Partners in Education
There is a common belief that it takes a village to raise a child. Here at Walmer High School, we are working together with different schools and organizations to ensure that we provide the best education we can for our learners. Walmer High School library has been given great support by the US Embassy for the past three years. Unfortunately, the ETA programme has been cancelled. Colleen Zolisa Mcaciso, a Walmer High School Alumni 2012.
Colleen used to be a library prefect herself and knows a lot about this school and the library.

Along with her, Fatima Klett, a Masifunde Volunteer from Germany. Working with Masifunde, Fatima is a librarian at the Walmer High School and also working with the Masifunde programmes in the location of Walmer.
They will be managing the library for one year.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistants
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) program brings educators from United States to high schools and universities around the world, promoting international partnership and cultural exchange. In June of 2010, the Regional English Language Officers at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria determined that Walmer High School in Port Elizabeth be a host to two such Fulbright ETAs due to the school’s dire need of assistance in strengthening the education it offers its learners. English Access Micro-Scholarship Program
The English Access Micro-Scholarship Program, known as the Access Program for short, is an additional educational opportunity Walmer High School offers for Grade 10 and 11 students who meet certain academic standards outlined by the U.S. Embassy. Program instructors Emma White and Cathy Holdsworth are constantly hard at work to make this program as beneficial as possible for its learners. Click here to see what they accomplished last year!
Friends of Walmer Trust
Friends of Walmer is an organization that aims to assist in improving the education and learning conditions of needy schools in the greater Port Elizabeth area. The group, which currently consists of 10 members, meets on a monthly basis to discuss the most prevalent issues at hand at Walmer High School and then delegates tasks to different group members regarding those issues. During 2011, Friends of Walmer has contributed to the school's library and feeding scheme projects, among other initiatives, through seeking out various local businesses who may be willing to donate their time or materials and acting as a liaison between those businesses and the school.
