Letter from Department of Education
After much persistence and patience, Walmer High School was re-evaluated by the Eastern Cape Department of Education and placed in the proper quintile. This new classification gives Walmer approximately R1,000,000 more in funding each year! Below you will find the letter written to Walmer High School by Director Vazi following the quintile contestation:

THE PRINCIPAL WALMER SECONDARY SCHOOL
DISTRICT: PORT ELIZABETH
Dear Sir/Madam
CONTESTATION EVALUATION OUTCOME
The matter articulated above refers.
It is with great pleasure to inform you that after careful evaluation of the contestations submitted, your school's quintile contestation has been awarded.
With effect from 01 April 2012 your school will be placed in quintile 3. It therefore means that your school will not charge school fees as from 1 April 2012.
The School must calculate fees that must be collected for the January, February and March 2012 and keep them for the day- to day operations within that period. The balance of school fees that have been collected must be paid back to the parents.
Schools that are declared as 'No Fee' schools are not precluded from requesting voluntary contributions from local businesses or interested parties for the purpose of funding special projects.
Schools that are declares as 'No Fee' schools are still required to prepare budgets in accordance with section 39(2) of SASA, and keep records of funds received and spent in accordance with section 42 of SASA.
Yours in education
